Let us baseline your suspension to your weight and riding ability. Only $72 and the best money you’ll spend!
Most sportbikes are sprung / set for a 160 pound rider and who in the world knows where the clickers are set! Even with the springs that come in the bike, we can measure the sag (how far down your bike and you compress the springs) and then adjust the pre-load of the forks and shock to get the suggested numbers for your weight.
We then adjust the damping to control the bikes compression and rebound. That’s how fast the bike moves through the travel of the forks and shock. When you come to a hard braking zone you want the forks to absorb the weight transfer of the bike. If it’s too fast you “blow through” the forks, hit the bottom and then the rear can lift or worse the front tire can break traction and you’ll tuck the front. If it’s too hard the front won’t compress and the same things can happen.
Too hard of a shock setting and not only do you get a harsh ride but when you accelerate hard there’s a chance of breaking the back end free and spinning.
These examples are of course the most extreme consequences but even just riding back and forth to work a properly setup suspension is instantly noticeable and more confident feeling.
